MAGIE and NCAE are over so we can bring our exhibits home to storage. Both shows were well attended on the first day and slacked off on the second day. We received several very good leads both shows.
We also had 3 Summer Training Sessions here at Catlin during August. A team of three men from Israel visited us on the 24th. One was a farmer and the other two were in the Agriculture Dept. of the government.
As I have reported in earlier newsletters, I am developing a marketing program for the use of manure. After reading these articles, I have received several calls from you saying that you like the idea. What are some of the negatives that dealers might bring up?
Manure smells! What if we could both remove most of this manure smell and/or change its odor to a more pleasant smell?
Manure carries weed seeds! What if we would sterilize all these unwanted seeds?
Manure is hard to handle! What if we pelletized the manure making it easily blended with other fertilizer products like DAP, Pelleted Lime or Potash?
Manure is usually misapplied causing very high soil test scores! What if we provided you a program that would allow manure to be used as a fertilizer material balancing fertility?
Manure robs us of fertilizer sales! What if we could control all this manure allowing you to sell it as fertilizer? Now all the acres you are being robbed of because manure is being applied will be yours for sales.
Just as soon as I would start using manure, my competition would get it and undercut my price! What if we would contract all these large quantity sources allowing you to have the exclusive market?
I would just have more acres to soil sample each year! If you are charging for it, what is the problem? If it is labor that is your problem, call us for help.
I don't have enough bin space? We are building into this manure product more margins than you are making with DAP & Potash. You build the bin and I'll see that it's paid for.
Manure would have all kinds of restrictions and regulations! Our manure product will have an EPA classification of "Class A" which means you will have NO RESTRICTIONS whatsoever.
Will manure fit into my TSM® program? Absolutely!
Will manure go through my VRT machine? Absolutely!
Is TSM® going to do any research on this manure product? YES! We will be putting out 6 treatments (6 replications each treatment) this fall:

The benefits of manure are widely known. We all recognize that the TSM® program is the best fertility program available today. Manure will enhance the TSM® program making it even better. Actually, manure will enhance any fertility program!
Our first project area is twenty counties in northwestern and west central Ohio and 20 counties in northeastern and east central Indiana. Letters are going out now to these dealers within this area. TSM® dealers will have first chance to participate. If these TSM® dealers cannot handle the volume, we will fill in the gaps with other dealers on a first-come-basis.
Our second project area is the state of Louisiana.
